Once you've previewed and finalized your credentials in Wauld, the final step before they go live is configuring Issuing Options; an essential phase where you define how the credentials are delivered, what actions recipients can perform on them, and whether or not they expire over time.

This article will walk you through every setting available in the Issuance Options screen and how each choice impacts your recipients and workflow.

If you haven’t previewed your credentials yet, start with Previewing Credentials before proceeding.

Why Issuing Options Matter

Issuing options are more than just the final checkbox. They ensure the right delivery method, offer secure access, and give recipients the right level of control over their achievements. Whether you're emailing credentials directly, exporting them for manual distribution, or setting limited validity periods, Wauld helps you issue credentials your way; with full flexibility and confidence.

Navigation to the Issuing Options Screen

To reach the Issuing Options screen:

  1. Go to Engagements from the left-side navigation bar.

  2. In the Engagement List View, select the engagement under which you want to issue credentials.

  3. You’ll land in the Engagement Details View. Click on the document you wish to issue credentials for.

  4. In the Document Details View, click the Issue Credentials button at the top-right.

  5. You’ll now enter the Add Recipients screen. After adding all recipients, click the “Preview Credentials” button (top-right).

  6. In the Preview screen, click the Issuing Options button at the top-right corner to proceed.

Method of Delivery

Wauld offers two credential delivery mechanisms to suit different operational styles:

Option 1: Send via Email (Default)

  • Emails are automatically sent to all recipients.

  • Each email contains a secure credential link, taking them directly to their issued credential.

  • Works best for automated flows or large-scale issuance campaigns.

Recommended when issuing to external recipients or multiple people at once.

Option 2: Download and Send Manually

  • You choose to download credentials as PDF or PNG files.

  • Recipients are not emailed directly from Wauld.

  • You’ll receive a downloadable ZIP file by email (to your admin address) containing all credentials.

  • Recipients can still access the credential in their dashboard (if they log in).

Ideal for offline sharing, handouts, internal HR systems, or controlled distribution.

Configuring Credential Actions (Recipient Permissions)

Wauld gives you precise control over what recipients can do with their credentials once issued. These options are presented as checkboxes in the Issuance Options screen.

By default, all 3 actions are enabled, but you can uncheck any based on your policy:

  • Allow Sharing Options

    • Enables recipients to share their credential via secure URL, email, or LinkedIn post.

  • Allow Credential to Be Downloaded

    • Allows recipients to download their credential in PDF format.

  • Allow Adding to LinkedIn

    • Lets recipients add their credential to their LinkedIn profile using the official “Add to Profile” feature.

Unchecking any of these disables that functionality for recipients. This is helpful for internal credentials or when you want tighter control over visibility.

Configuring Expiry for Credentials

Credential expiry can be useful for temporary recognitions (e.g., safety certifications, training sessions, licenses) that must be renewed periodically. Wauld allows you to define expiry using three options:

  • Never Expires (Default)

    • The credential remains permanently accessible and verifiable.

  • Expires After a Set Duration

    • Define the lifespan in days or months (e.g., “Valid for 6 months”).

    • The credential will expire automatically after this duration post-issuance.

  • Expires on a Specific Date

    • Set a fixed calendar date for expiration (e.g., “Expires on 31 December 2025”).

Wauld automatically sends expiry reminders to recipients:

  • 1 month before expiry

  • 1 day before expiry

Once expired:

  • The credential displays a "Expired" banner.

  • It is no longer available for download or sharing.

  • Verification attempts can't be done.

You can edit the credential expiry date even after it has been issued through the Edit Credential flow. To learn more, visit Editing an Issued Credential .

Finalizing and Issuing Credentials

Once you have selected the delivery mechanism, configured the credential actions, and set the expiry, you can proceed to issue the credentials.

  1. Click the Issue Credentials button on the top-right of the screen.

  2. A confirmation modal will appear.

  3. Click Yes, Issue Credentials Now to proceed.

  4. Or click Cancel to return and make changes.

After confirmation, Wauld will:

  • Issue all credentials based on your selected method.

  • Trigger appropriate email notifications or downloads.

  • Update the Credential Audit Log for full traceability.

What Happens After Issuance?

  • Recipients receive their credentials or can access them via their dashboard.

  • Credential links become publicly verifiable.

  • After issuing the credentials, you'll be taken to the 'Issued Credentials' tab of the Document Details view. Here, you can see all credentials issued under this document. Hover over any row to reveal the 'Details' button; clicking it opens the Credential Details view. To learn more, visit Viewing Credential Details .

  • Admins can monitor usage, verify views, downloads, and sharing activity from the Issued Credentials tab.

  • All issued credentials are available in the Issued Credentials tab for future reference, editing, or voiding (if needed).
