Verifying Credentials

Verification is the backbone of trust in digital credentialing. When someone views your certificate or badge, they need instant reassurance that it’s genuine, issued by the right authority, and belongs to the right person. Wauld makes this process seamless, reliable, and transparent.
By verifying a credential, employers, institutions, or peers can confirm in seconds what once required phone calls, paperwork, and manual checks. This not only protects against fraud but also strengthens the recipient’s credibility every time they showcase their achievement.
Why Credential Verification Matters
For Recipients
Credibility: Every credential you share carries your name and achievement. Verification ensures that employers, schools, or clients know it’s authentic.
Confidence: You can confidently showcase credentials on LinkedIn, in applications, or on resumes; knowing they stand up to scrutiny.
Protection: Verification safeguards against tampering, duplication, or false claims of ownership.
For Issuers
Reputation: Institutions issuing verifiable credentials signal professionalism and modern practices.
Reduced Workload: No more manual verification requests via email or phone; Wauld automates the process.
Compliance: Verification helps meet regulatory or accreditation requirements.
For Verifiers (Employers, Institutions, Agencies)
Instant Trust: In a single click, they know the credential is real.
Transparency: They see not only the recipient’s details but also confirmation that the issuing organization is legitimate.
Efficiency: Verification takes seconds, avoiding costly delays in hiring, admissions, or licensing.
How to Verify a Credential
Verification can be done directly in the Recipient Portal or via QR code on the credential.
1. Verification in the Recipient Portal
Log In to the Recipient Portal.
You’ll land on the Credential Gallery View, which displays all your received credentials in a gallery format.
Click on the credential you want to view.
This opens the Credential Details View, with complete information about the credential.
At the bottom-right corner, click the Verify Credential button.
A modal will open, and Wauld will perform a 3-step validation process:
Step 1: Recipient Validation
Confirms that the credential belongs to the recipient it claims to.
Displays the recipient’s name.
Step 2: Issuer Validation
Confirms the organization that issued the credential.
Displays the issuer’s name.
Shows the issuer’s verification status:
Verified Badge – The issuer has completed Wauld’s 3-step verification process.
Verification Pending – The issuer has not yet completed verification.
Important: This does not affect the credential’s validity. The credential is still legitimate; it simply means the organization is pending formal verification.
Step 3: Credential Validation
Confirms the integrity of the credential itself.
Wauld checks the credential against its issuance record to ensure it has not been tampered with or altered.
If valid, you’ll see a “Credential is verified” message.
2. Verification via QR Code
Many credentials issued through Wauld include a Verification QR Code:
Open the camera app (or QR scanner) on your phone.
Scan the QR code displayed on the credential.
You’ll be redirected to the Credential Details View in Wauld.
From here, the same 3-step verification check is performed, confirming the credential’s authenticity.
This makes verification simple, mobile-friendly, and universally accessible.
What Verification Looks Like
When a credential is verified:
Recipient details match exactly as issued.
Issuer details are confirmed, with a Verified or Pending Verification badge.
Credential data is intact and unaltered.
If all three checks succeed, the modal displays a clear “Credential Verified” confirmation.
Real-World Impact of Verification
Job Applications: Candidates don’t just claim a qualification; recruiters can instantly verify it.
University Admissions: Credentials like diplomas, transcripts, or certificates can be authenticated in seconds by admissions officers.
Professional Licensing: Licensing boards can confirm training or certification without relying on paperwork.
Skill Portfolios: Learners can add credentials to their LinkedIn profiles or websites with the assurance that they are verifiable by anyone.
Fraud Prevention: By making verification instant and transparent, Wauld eliminates the risk of forged or manipulated certificates.
