If you're new to Wauld's Design Studio, we recommend starting with our Introduction to the Design Studio . Once you're familiar with the basics, this article will guide you through uploading and managing Backgrounds, Logos, and Brand Elements; the core building blocks for personalizing and elevating your credential designs.

What Are Backgrounds, Logos, and Brand Elements?

  • Backgrounds form the base of your document's visual identity. Whether it’s a certificate template or badge canvas, the background gives it context, color, and design aesthetic.

  • Logos represent your brand, institution, or program. Adding them builds trust and instantly communicates credibility to recipients and viewers.

  • Brand Elements refer to visual assets you can use to decorate or accent your credential. In Wauld, this includes:

    • Base Shapes (e.g., rectangles, circles)

    • Ribbons (great for highlighting names or dates)

    • Icons (for embellishments or symbols)

    • Lines (for dividing sections or adding structure)

These elements are especially useful when designing badges, as they give you creative control over visual layout, hierarchy, and emphasis.

Adding Backgrounds to Your Credential Design

To start uploading or applying backgrounds in Wauld:

  1. Open the Design Studio by creating or editing a document. Once inside, navigate to the "Backgrounds" section from the left-side panel.

  2. You’ll find two sources for backgrounds:

    • Organization Assets: Pre-uploaded backgrounds that are available across your organization.

    • Background Library: A curated selection of ready-made designs that Wauld provides.
