Adding recipients is the first and foundational step in Wauld’s seamless and efficient credential issuance process after document design is done. Once you’ve designed your document template, it's time to populate it with recipient data. Whether you're issuing a single certificate or hundreds at once, Wauld makes it easy, fast, and error-resistant.
By allowing both manual entry and bulk CSV import, Wauld offers unmatched flexibility and convenience; especially for teams working at scale or with tight deadlines. You can issue credentials confidently, knowing your recipient data is secure, organized, and tailored to your document design.
This article walks you through both manual entry and bulk import of recipient data; highlighting how Wauld's smart features save your time, eliminate redundancy, and help you issue credentials at scale with complete confidence.

Where to Add Recipients
To begin adding recipients to a document:
Click on “Engagements” in the left-side navigation bar.
In the Engagement List View, select the engagement under which you want to issue credentials.
You’ll land in the Engagement Details View. Click on the document you want to issue.
You’ll now enter the Document Details View. Click on the “Issue Credentials” button on the top-right.
At this stage, before you can start entering recipient data, Wauld will first guide you through a Recipient Consent Confirmation step. This ensures that all required consents (including parental or guardian consent for minors, where applicable) are in place before proceeding.
Once you’ve confirmed consent, you’ll be taken to the Add Recipients screen, where you can choose to add data manually or import in bulk.
Recipient Consent Confirmation
Before you can add recipients, Wauld requires confirmation that you have secured the necessary consents.
When you click Issue Credentials, a Recipient Consent Confirmation Modal will appear. This modal includes the following statement:
“I confirm I have all required consents to upload recipient data and issue credentials, including verifiable parental or guardian consent for minors where applicable.”
To proceed:
You must check the consent box to confirm compliance.
Only after confirming will you be able to continue to the Add Recipients screen.
If you cancel, you will return to the Document Details View.
This ensures all data uploaded into Wauld respects privacy, consent, and regulatory standards; protecting both issuers and recipients.
Once you confirm consent, you will land on the Add Recipients screen, where you can add recipients either manually or by importing them in bulk. Let’s walk through both methods.
Method 1: Adding Recipients Manually
Manual entry is perfect for:
Issuing a small batch of credentials.
Carefully reviewing recipient data one-by-one.
Handling sensitive credentials or pilot runs.
Wauld’s interface makes this process smooth and intuitive with real-time validations, keyboard shortcuts, and preview-ready formatting.
Steps to Add Recipients Manually:
On the Add Recipients screen, you’ll see one empty row ready for data.
Enter the Full Name and Email Address of the recipient.
If your design includes custom attributes (e.g., Course Name, Score, Date), fields for these will automatically appear. Enter the relevant values.
Once all data is entered, click the Save button on the far-right of the row.
To add more, click “Add Recipient” on the top-left; a new row appears.
Alternatively, you can quickly save and add the next row using the shortcut Shift + Enter.
Repeat for as many recipients as needed.
Method 2: Bulk Import Recipients via CSV
For large-scale issuance, manual entry can be time-consuming. Wauld’s Bulk CSV Import allows you to upload hundreds of recipient records in just a few clicks; while ensuring formatting and data integrity.
Bulk Import Supports Two Options:
Click on the “Bulk Actions” button beside the Add Recipients button; you’ll see two options among 4 available options:
Import (Replace Current Data) – Deletes all existing recipients and replaces them with new data from the uploaded CSV.
Import (Append to Current Data) – Adds new recipients to the current list without deleting any existing ones.
Steps to Import Recipients via CSV:
Click on the “Bulk Actions” button beside the Add Recipients button, then select Import (your preferred method) option.
A modal opens with instructions:
All emails should be in the format "xyz@gmail.com".
Only CSV files are accepted.
Use this template to prepare your data for import.
Download the CSV template provided by clicking “Use this Template”.
Fill out the downloaded template:
Make sure all columns (Full Name, Email, and Custom Fields) are filled.
You can copy-paste from another spreadsheet.
Save the file in CSV format.
Upload the CSV using drag-and-drop or file upload in the modal.
After uploading:
Click “Import” to proceed.
After the successful import, click “Done” to finish or “Cancel” to abort.
Managing Recipients Data Before Issuing
Sometimes data may need to be corrected or reset. Wauld provides easy tools to manage recipient entries before issuing credentials.
Edit a Recipient
Hover over the recipient row you want to edit. On the far right of the row, you’ll see an Edit button; click it to make changes.
Once you're done editing, the Edit button will turn into a Save button.
Click Save to update the details.
Delete a Single Recipient
Hover over the recipient row and click the Delete icon on the far-right.
Delete All Current Data
From the Bulk Actions dropdown, choose “Delete Current Data”.
A confirmation modal will appear click Confirm to wipe the list.
Download Current Data
Use “Download Current Data” from Bulk Actions to save the current list as a CSV.
This helps preserve data for future reuse or offline review.
What Happens if Document Design Changes?
If your document template is updated after entering recipients:
The next time you return to the Add Recipients screen, if you have added a new attribute then, Wauld will automatically prompt you to fill the new fields for all existing entries.
Until you complete missing data, Wauld will not let you proceed; ensuring every credential remains complete and valid.
Wauld’s validation-first approach ensures data quality and recipient trust; no missed fields, no invalid credentials.
Next Step: Preview Credentials Before Issuing
Once your recipients are ready, click the preview credentials button to move to the Credential Preview Screen.
